TASHKENT, February 15. /TASS/. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has scheduled a state visit to Russia for early April, the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Azimov said at the 18th session of the Uzbek-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation on Wednesday.
"It should be noted that this would be the first visit of the newly-elected President of Uzbekistan to Russia. We are confident that it will mark a further step towards a strategic partnership and cooperation between our countries", Azimov stated. He suggested providing substantial content to the upcoming top-level negotiations. To achieve this, he believes that during the session, the state of bilateral relations should be thoroughly analyzed to make full use of new opportunities and prospects for deepening and enhancing cooperation.
The Commission has ordered both countries’ foreign ministries together with the parties’ ministries and agencies in question to agree by March 15 to a list of accords that will be sent for signing during President Mirziyoyev's visit to Russia.
