GENEVA, February 13./TASS/. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura is sending out invitations to intra-Syrian talks in Geneva, a spokesperson for the Office of the Special Envoy for Syria has told TASS.
"We are still in the process of sending out all invitations, within the next half an hour all invitations will be out," Yara Sharif said, noting that invitations have been sent to the opposition delegation. "The invitation to HNC (High Negotiations Committee) was sent out an hour ago," she said.
Earlier reports said the UN-mediated intra-Syrian talks in Geneva were to start on February 20. Invitations were to have been sent back on February 8, but then the special envoy’s office in Geneva said this was postponed for several days as the consultations on forming the opposition delegation were still in progress.
