LUGANSK, December 19. /TASS/. Ukrainian forces shell the positions of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) and prepare for an active offensive in the Debaltsevo direction, official spokesman for LPR people’s militia Andrey Marochko said.
"Ukrainian Armed Forces continue regrouping and move weapons to the contact line along the disengagement line near Debaltsevo, thuse preparing for an active offensive," Lugansk Inform Center quoted Marochko as saying.
According to Marochko, Ukrainian forces have been shelling the positions of self-defense militia since 8pm on Monday. They use weapons of 152mm caliber, mortars, firearms, he added.
On Sunday, Ukrainian forces attempted to enter the settlement of Kalinovka with the use of artillery from the village of Luganskoye. According to LPR people’s militia, 10 Ukrainian servicemen were killed and around 20 more were injured. Two LPR militiamen were injured, and two others are missing.
On Monday morning, Ukrainian forces resumed their attempts to break through in several parts of the contact line in Debaltsevo and shelled from artillery the positions of LPR people’s militia near Kalinovka and Logvinovo. LPR representatives called on observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to interfere in the situation.
Marochko later said that the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) established the ceasefire regime in Debaltsevo starting from 5pm local time. However, several hours later, Ukrainian forces started shelling Debaltsevo again.
