US-based cleric Gulen condemns murder of Russian ambassador

Turkish media assumed earlier that ambassador's killer belonged to Gulen's network

NEW YORK, December 20. /TASS/. US-based opposition cleric Fethullah Gulen condemns the assassination of the Russian ambassador in Ankara, Reuters quoted one of his advisors as saying.

Turkish media alleged earlier that ambassador Andrei Karlov's killer belonged to Gulen's network.

"Mr. Gulen categorically condemns this heinous act," advisor Alp Aslandogan told Reuters, adding that Gulen movement had no connection to the crime. The Turkish government has accused Gulen of instigating a failed coup in July.

Gulen, who has lived in Pennsylvania since 1999, denies these accusations.
