Turkey’s top diplomat to hold talks with Lavrov in Moscow

Turkey's top diplomat will arrive in Moscow to take part in a trilateral ministerial meeting and will have separate talks with his Russian counterpart

ANKARA, December 19. /TASS/. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will arrive in Moscow to take part in a trilateral ministerial meeting on Syria on December 20 and hold bilateral contacts in the Russian capital, a Turkish diplomatic source informed TASS on Monday.

"The Turkish foreign minister is travelling to Moscow to take part in a trilateral meeting to discuss the situation in Aleppo and developments in Syria. During his visit, the minister will also hold separate talks with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov. The two sides will discuss bilateral issues among other matters," a source in the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.

The press service of the Russian Defense Ministry reported earlier in the day that the defense and foreign ministers of Russia, Turkey and Iran would discuss the settlement in Syria in Moscow on December 20. "On December 20, 2016, Moscow will host a meeting of the defense and foreign ministers of the Russian Federation, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Turkey dedicated to the Syrian settlement and aimed at facilitating the implementation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions," the press service said.

Russian Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, earlier said that a meeting of the Russian, Iranian and Turkish top diplomats would be held in Moscow on December 20.
