Putin included in Time magazine’s Person of the Year shortlist

Time’s Person of the Year shortlist includes Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Narendra Modi and Nigel Farage

MOSCOW, December 5. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has been included in the shortlist of the Person of the Year rating compiled annually by US Time magazine.

The shortlist, which was posted on the magazine’s website on Monday, incudes 11 politicians, scientists, businessmen, public figures and show business stars.

Apart from Putin, Time’s Person of the Year shortlist includes US President-elect Donald Trump, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton who lost the elections to Trump, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former leader of the UK Independence Party Nigel Farage.

Russia's president has been in the center of the media’s attention due to Russia’s anti-terror operation in Syria and the allegations that Russian hackers broke into the servers of the Democratic Party’s National Committee during the election campaign.

The final results of the Person of the Year rating will be drawn up using the results of readers' vote and the opinion of the Time editorial board. The results will be announced on December 7.
