Five gunmen killed in counterterrorism operation in Russia’s Dagestan - source

The operation was suspended until Sunday morning

MAKHACHKALA, December 3. /TASS/. Law enforcement officers have killed five gunmen in a counterterrorism operation underway in the village of Talgi in the Russian North Caucasus turbulent region of Dagestan, a source with the regional law enforcement agencies told TASS on Saturday.

"A few firefights have taken place in the area of the counterterrorism operation closer to the evening," the source said. "Up to five gunmen are reported to be killed."

The operation was suspended until Sunday morning, he said.

At 11.00 Moscow Standard Time (08.00 GMT) a counterterrorism operation was launched in the village in the search for gunmen and their accomplices, imposing restrictions on the local people’s daily routine.
