KIEV, December 1. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko announced the successful missile launches as part of military exercises that started in south Ukraine on Thursday.

"The first reports have already come about the successful launches this morning. The launches are being held in the airspace over the open sea on Ukraine’s sovereign territory," Poroshenko said at a meeting with the personnel of the National Guard.

The drills will be held on December 1-2, the Ukrainian president said.

‘We are holding planned drills today and tomorrow, including the tests of antiaircraft missiles. Our task is to build the air defense of Kiev and the whole of Ukraine. And no one will stop us," Poroshenko said.

The missile launches are being held "irrespective of any statements from Moscow," the Ukrainian president said.
