Tsunami alert lifted following earthquake in Japan

An earthquake of 6.1 magnitude struck north-eastern Japan earlier on Thursday

TOKYO, November 24. /TASS/. Japan Meteorological Agency has lifted the tsunami alert for the north-eastern part of the country after the earthquake of 6.1 magnitude was registered in the region. No injuries or damages have been reported .

An earthquake of 6.1 magnitude struck north-eastern Japan earlier on Thursday. Underground tremors were felt in 17 prefectures, including Fukushima, Miyagi, Iwate and Tokyo. Walls were shaking in the TASS office in Tokyo.

The earthquake occurred in the same place as another earthquake of 7.3 magnitude two days ago. Japan Meteorological Agency warned about more possible underground tremors in the region in the following week.
