Rally in support to Russian military operation in Syria held outside embassy in London

The rally participants, who unfolded a huge banner in the colors of Russian flag, say that the British public should know that the Russian military do not pose any threat to anyone

LONDON, November 23. /TASS/. Supporters of the Russian military operation in Syria held a rally outside Russia’s embassy in London on Wednesday, urging the British authorities to admit that Russia and Syria’s government forces fight against terrorist groups for security of the UK nationals as well, a TASS correspondent reported from the scene.

"We have organized the rally in support to the Russian military campaign in Syria because the Russian actions are absolutely critical in the fight against Islamist terrorism not just for the people of Syria, not just for the people of the Middle East, but for the people of Britain," British political scientist, editor-in-chief and publisher of the Politics First magazine Marcus Papadopoulos said.

"Every day a Russian serviceman fight against the terrorists in Syria is a weakening of the terrorist threat posed against Britain. British civilians need to know that the Russian military is not their enemy, it is their friend, their ally, they are fighting against people who are ideologically speaking at the same people who carried out the London bombings," he added.

The rally participants, who unfolded a huge banner in the colors of Russian flag, say that the British public should know that the Russian military do not pose any threat to anyone. "It upsets me to think that Russians don’t know that many English agreed with the Russian actions in fight against terrorist threat in Syria. So, my main aim was to show the Russian audience that many of us carry out the support of Russian actions," the participant Alan Bailey said.

Also, Russia’s Ambassador to the UK Aleksander Yakovenko said speaking at the rally, "You know, there are accusations that we are bombing wrong targets. It is not true because several times I raised this question in the Foreign Office and I tell them that we need facts."

"If the right facts will be presented to us, we are to investigate. I would like to say that I still didn’t receive the answer to some requests. We hope that we will be successful in fighting against terrorism. It is very important that you are supporting us," he said.
