DONETSK, November 22 /TASS/. The political group of the Contact Group for the Ukraine settlement will discuss the "Steinmeier formula" at the forthcoming meeting in Minsk on November 23, on Wednesday, Natalya Nikonorova, the acting foreign minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), said on Tuesday.
"We agreed that we are going to discuss the "Steinmeier formula" and it will be the front-and-center topic at the upcoming meeting. Once a fixed consensus is reached on the procedure for implementing the law on the special status of our territories, the (political) group will then be able to move on to the next issues on the political agenda," the Donetsk News Agency quoted Nikonorova as saying.
Nikonorova added that DPR’s representatives in the political group hoped that the meeting would bring about "positive changes in the group’s work on November 23." "All negotiators understand the urgent need of adopting some procedural regulations in order to move forward," the DPR foreign minister emphasized.
Nikonorova said that following the political group’s meeting in Minsk on November 9, the talks on the Donbass political settlement were in crisis because the Ukrainians had refused to discuss the "Steinmeier forumula" and the roadmap for implementing the Minsk-2 package of measures.
The Contact Group for the Ukraine settlement is gathering for another meeting in Minsk on November 23. Meetings of economic, humanitarian, political and security groups are also scheduled for Wednesday.
