TOKYO, November 22. /TASS/. The tsunami wave of one meter has reached the Fukushima I nuclear power plant (NPP) after the earthquake of 7.4 magnitude off Japan, Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO) said on Tuesday.
No damage has been reported, TEPCO said. Another wave reached the neighboring Fukushima II NPP, the company noted adding that no contingencies were reported as well.
An earthquake of 7.4 magnitude struck the north-eastern Japanese prefecture of Fukushima on Tuesday at 5:59am local time. Japan Meteorological Agency said the epicenter lay at the depth of 25 kilometers to the east of the prefecture. Tsunami threat persists, and waves may reach up to three meters.
