After the beginning of a rally to mark the third anniversary of the 2013 Maidan protests several dozen radically-minded protesters first came to Kiev's European Square to set tires ablaze. Police began to detain the instigators, with scuffles occurring between the protesters and law enforcers. Later the radicals managed to set the tires ablaze, but on Independence Square.

Kiev marks the third anniversary of Maidan on Monday. In 2014, the Ukrainian president issued a decree to establish a public holiday - Dignity on Freedom Day - on November 21. The central part of the city has been cordoned off by the police since Monday’s morning, mass rallies and marches are being held there.
