BAKU, November 17. /TASS/. Baku and Washington have great potential to boost bilateral ties, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said in a telephone conversation with US President-Elect Donald Trump, the Azerbaijani presidential press service said in a statement on Thursday.
According to the press service, the conversation was initiated by Aliyev who congratulated Trump on his victory in the presidential election and wished him success as president.
"President Ilham Aliyev pointed out that Azerbaijan and the US had been developing political and economic ties as well as cooperation in the security sphere and the field of energy security. The two countries have great potential to boost bilateral ties," the statement reads.
Trump, in turn, thanked Aliyev for his greetings and noted that he had "heard many good things about President Ilham Aliyev and wished his success in his activities," the Azerbaijani presidential press service added.
