4.5-5 magnitude earthquake hits Kyrgyzstan

A 4.5-5 magnitude earthquake has hit the southern Osh region of Kyrgyzstan, the republic’s Emergency Situations Ministry reports

BISHKEK, November 14. /TASS/. A 4.5-5 magnitude earthquake hit the southern Osh region of Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the republic’s Emergency Situations Ministry told TASS.

"According to the Institute of Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences, tremors were registered at 08:07 am local time (5:07 am Moscow time)," the spokesman with the Emergency Situations Ministry said.

According to the ministry, the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Kara-Suisky district near settlements Uchkaptal, Chaichi and Tuzbel.

"In the city of Osh (the regional center), the magnitude of tremors was about 3-3.5," the press service reported.

According to preliminary data, there are no reports on casualties and damage, but this information is now being clarified.
