Syria ceasefire violated 35 times in 24 hours - Russian reconciliation center

17 violations registered in the Aleppo region, 15 - in the Damascus region, one - in Latakia region and two - in the Hama region

MOSCOW, November 12. /TASS/. Illegal armed groups have violated the ceasefire in Syria 35 times in the past 24 hours, with 17 violations registered in the Aleppo region, 15 - in the Damascus region, one - in Latakia region and two - in the Hama region, the Russian center for reconciliation of the opposing sides said in its daily news bulletin posted on the Russian defense ministry’s website on Saturday.

"Armed groups, which have declared they had joined the cessation of hostilities, carried out fire from homemade multiple missile launchers, mortars and small arms in the city of Aleppo - at the districts of Buweida and Salah ad-Din, in the Damascus province - at the populated localities of Douma, Jobar and height 612; in the Latakia province - at Abu-Ali mountain," the bulletin says.

Terrorist detachments shelled the settlements of Ansar in the Aleppo province, the districts of Leramon, Dahiya al-Assad (twice), Manyan (three times), ‘1070’, the Hikmah school (twice), a Syriatel cellular station, the al-Assad military academy, the Citadel of Aleppo, the area around the paperboard plant and Castello shopping mall in the city of Aleppo.

"In the Damascus province, the populated locality of Jobar (four times), Arbin (four times), Hawsh Nasri (twice), and Kabun came under shelling. In the Hama province, terrorists shelled the village of Jarjisa and the thermal power plant in the settlement of Mahardah. In the Daraa province, the village of Ataman was targeted by the shelling," the reconciliation center said.

"Russia’s Aerospace Force and Syria’s Air Force have not been delivering strikes on opposition armed units that had announced the cessation of hostilities and reported their location to the Russian or U.S. reconciliation centers," the bulletin said.

The Russian Defense Ministry declared the establishment of the reconciliation center on February 23. It is headquartered at the Hmeimim air base, Latakia province. The center was set up in line with agreements reached by Russia and the United States to facilitate the negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition and to organize humanitarian deliveries.
