Suspect detained over terror plots in Moscow says his brother fights in Syria

A young man, who gave his name as Abdukhaleb Mirzoyev, a citizen of Tajikistan, says in the video footage that his brother was in Syria, when asked why he had been detained

MOSCOW, November 12. /TASS/. A young man detained over terror plots in Moscow has told investigators that his brother was fighting in Syria, Russia’s Security Service (FSB) released a video footage of Tajikistan’s special services.

A young man, who gave his name as Abdukhaleb Mirzoyev, a citizen of Tajikistan, says in the video footage that his brother was in Syria, when asked why he had been detained. Answering the next question about what his brother was doing in Syria, the detainee says, "I do not know. Jihad." Besides, he confesses that was going to carry out a terrorist attack in Moscow.

The FSB reported earlier they had detained 10 terrorists.

"As a result of the operative-search and investigatory actions, ten terrorists were detained on November 12 in Moscow and St. Petersburg," the FSB said. "They had four self-made high-power explosives, which were confiscated."

The terrorists planned attacks "with the purpose of killing civilians in crowded places."

"The detained are confessing contacts with leaders of the Islamic State terrorist organization, outlawed in Russia, in the Middle East region, targeted facilities, as well as allies and the supportive base both inside the Russian Federation and abroad.".
