43 ceasefire violations reported in Syria in 24 hours — Russian reconciliation center

Reconciliation agreements have been inked with four settlements in Syria’s Latakia region over the past 24 hours

MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. Illegal armed groups have violated the ceasefire in Syria 43 times in the past 24 hours, the Russian Center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria said in its daily news bulletin posted on the Russian Defense Ministry’s official website on Friday.

Armed groups, which have declared joining the regime of cessation of hostilities, delivered fire from homemade multiple missile launchers, mortars and small arms in the Damascus province — on the populated localities of Harasta, Jobar, Bleliye, and height 612; in the city of Aleppo — on the Salah Ed-Din, Al-Mahsarka and Hay al-Antari districts; in the Latakia province — on the populated localities of Ayn Sleima and positions of government troops on Abu-Ali mountain.

Terrorist detachments carried out strikes from home-made multiple missile launchers, gun artillery, mortars and firearms in the Aleppo province at the settlements of Ansar, the districts of ‘3000’, ‘1070’, al-Maidam, Ramusi, Jamariya Harb al-Zahraa, the al-Assad military academy, Castello shopping mall, control checkpoint No.1 and the area near former military school in the city of Aleppo, the center said.

In the Damascus region, the Ibn al-Walid hospital, the al-Wafideen camp in the settlement of Douma, a sports ground and energy station in the populated locality of Jobar, along with settlements of Harasta, Hawsh Nasri and Kabun, came under shelling. In the Hama region, militants shelled the settlement of Mahardah.

"Russia’s Aerospace Force and Syria’s Air Force have not been delivering strikes at opposition armed units that had announced the cessation of hostilities and reported their location to the Russian or US reconciliation centers," the bulletin said.

Reconciliation agreements have been inked with four settlements in Syria’s Latakia region over the past 24 hours, the Russian center continued. "The number of populated localities that joined the reconciliation process has increased to 888," the bulletin says.

Talks on joining the cessation of hostilities are ongoing with the field commanders of illegal armed units in the settlement of Moadamyiet al-Shih in the Damascus region and with groups of armed opposition in the regions of Homs, Aleppo and Quneitra.

The number of armed groups that pledged their commitments to accepting and fulfilling the conditions of the cessation of hostilities remained unchanged — 69.

Five humanitarian events were held in Syrian regions. In Aleppo’s Muhafaza district, 2.5 tonnes of aid were distributed among refugees studying at the local university, in the city of Al-Suwayda — about 800 tonnes, in the settlement of al-Hasaniya in the Hama region — about 4.37 tonnes, in the city of Safita in the Tartous region — about 4.75 tonnes, and in the town of Brummanet al-Mashayekh in the Tartus region — about 4.75 tonnes.

Special centers keep operating in the city of Aleppo, providing hot meals and daily necessities to civilians who are leaving the districts controlled by illegal armed groups.

The Russian Defense Ministry declared the establishment of the reconciliation center on February 23. It is headquartered at the Hmeymim air base, Latakia province. The center was set up in line with agreements reached by Russia and the United States to facilitate negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition and to organize humanitarian deliveries.
