51 ceasefire violations reported in Syria in past day — Russian reconciliation center

The number of settlements joining the reconciliation process has reached 842

MOSCOW, October 24. /TASS/. A total of 51 ceasefire violations by illegal armed groups were reported during the day in Syria, including 24 — in the province of Aleppo, 18 — in the province of Damascus, seven — in the province of Hama, and two — in the province of Latakia, the Russian Center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria said in its regular daily bulletin posted on the Russian Defense Ministry’s official website on Monday.

"Armed groups which have declared joining the regime of cessation of hostilities conducted fire from home-made multiple missile launcher systems, artillery systems, mortars and firearms at the settlement of Azizi in the province of Aleppo and Aleppo’s district of Hai al-Antari; at the settlements of Jobar, Bala al-Qadima, Douma, and Kafer Batna and height 612 and a farm near the settlement of al-Qusayr in the province of Damascus; at the settlement of Rashah and positions of government forces on Abu Ali mount in the province of Latakia," the bulletin says.

In the province of Hama, terrorists shelled a railway station in the settlement of Kawkab (twice) and a heat plant in the settlement of Maharda (twice).

No air strikes were delivered by the Russian air group and the Syrian air force at armed opposition group which have declared cessation of hostilities and informed the Russian or US reconciliation centers about their locations, as follows from the bulletin.

Reconciliation of the warring parties

"During the day, reconciliation agreements were signed with representatives of two settlements in the Syrian province of Latakia. The number of settlements joining the reconciliation process has reached 842," the Russian center said.

Talks on joining the regime of cessation of hostilities were continued with field commanders of armed opposition groups in the settlement of Muaddamiet al-Shih in the province of Damascus and commanders of armed opposition groups in the provinces of Homs, Hama, Aleppo and al-Quneitra, according to the bulletin.

"The number illegal armed groups that declared their commitment to the ceasefire terms remains unchanged — 69," the center said.

Humanitarian assistance

Apart from that, according to the Russian center, efforts are continued to relieve the humanitarian situation in Syria. "Two tonnes of humanitarian cargoes were delivered to civilians in the settlement of al-Shakrakhiya in the province of Daraa," the Russian center said.

Hot meals and living essentials distribution outlets are open for civilians leaving Aleppo’s neighborhoods controlled by illegal armed groups, the bulletin says.

Russian reconciliation center

The Russian Defense Ministry declared the establishment of the reconciliation center on February 23. It is headquartered at the Hmeymim air base, Latakia province. The center was set up in line with agreements reached by Russia and the United States to facilitate the negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition and to organize humanitarian deliveries.
