Source: special operation finished in Nizhny Novgorod

The body of the supposed criminal has been taken for forensic study

MOSCOW, October 23. /TASS/. A special operation in Nizhny Novgorod’s residential area where law enforcers had neutralized two members of illegal armed groups, is over, a police source told TASS on Sunday.

"Law enforcers have finished the special operation and left the site," the source said, adding that the body of the supposed criminal has been taken for forensic study.

Traffic is the area has been resumed. However security measures have been tightened in the city, with reinforced traffic police squads conducting random checks of drivers’ and passengers’ documents.

According to earlier reports, a special operation was launched after security services received information about the location of a number of members of illegal armed groups. The special operation was conducted in the vicinity of Nizhny Novgorod’s Tsvety living quarters. Policemen tried to stop a car to check documents but people inside it made an attempt to flee the site. Eyewitnesses said the entire quarter was cordoned off.

Two armed men were killed in the special operation. A suspicious-looking object, presumably an explosive device which was in the car, was destroyed by an anti-mine robot.
