Kazakh president cancels visits to Azerbaijan, Armenia for health reasons

ASTANA, October 12. /TASS/. Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev will not be able to visit Azerbaijan and Armenia on October 12-14 due to a cold-related disease, presidential spokesman Aidos Ukibai said on Wednesday.

The president’s working schedule has been changed, the spokesman said in a statement on Facebook page. "Until the end of this week the participation of the head of state in international events is not planned."

The sessions of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Yerevan will be attended by Kazakhstan’s prime minister, he said.

Nazarbayev, 76, is now "undergoing a planned treatment due to a cold-related disease, in general his health is not of concern."

The president planned to pay an official visit to Armenia and also attend a session of the CSTO’s council at the level of heads of state on October 14. On Wednesday, Nazarbayev was scheduled to arrive in Azerbaijan on an official visit.
