Russia dominates skies in Syria, US unprepared for conflict with Moscow — expert

According to Fox News Strategic Analyst Ralph Peters, President Obama "has been so apathetic, so lethargic that it has gone to the point where Russia dominates the skies"

NEW YORK, October 12. /TASS/. Fox News Strategic Analyst, retired Lt. Col. Ralph Peters  believes Russia maintains air superiority in Syria, while US President Barack Obama takes no steps that could lead to a military confrontation with Moscow in that Middle Eastern country.

"President Obama has let this go on so long," he said. According to the expert, the US leader "has been so apathetic, so lethargic that it has gone to the point where Russia dominates the skies." Peters also expressed confidence that Obama has no intention of making any attempts to ground Syria’s air force militarily as this will lead to a military confrontation with Russia. "You know, President Obama doesn’t have the guts for that," he said.

Peters also slammed the idea of a no-fly zone in Syria put forward by US Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "Mrs. Clinton’s idea of a no-fly zone would have been great four years ago," he said.

Russia launched an operation against the Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra groups (both banned in Russia) in Syria on September 30, 2015, at the request of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. In March 2016, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to withdraw the main part of the Russian air group from Syria.
