Ruling party leads parliamentary election in Georgia - exit polls

Under Georgia’s laws, the elections are recognized valid amid any voter turnout

TBILISI, October 8. /TASS/. The Georgian Dream ruling party is leading at the elections to the country’s parliament by party-list proportional representation with 53.8% of the votes, according to exit polls carried out by the TNS international company.

At 8 pm local time (4 pm GMT), 3,645 polling stations closed their doors after 12 hours’ work.

Georgia’s Central Election Committee said that as of 5 pm local time (1 pm GMT) "1,477, 562 people have cast their ballots, or 42,05% of the voters."

New information is expected in coming hours.

Under Georgia’s laws, the elections are recognized valid amid any voter turnout. The total number of all eligible voters in Georgia is 3,513,884 people.
