BAKU, October 6. /TASS/. Armenian military fire killed an Azerbaijani serviceman in the Nagorno-Karabakh armed conflict zone, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry said in a statement.

According to the statement, "on the evening of October 5, an Azerbaijani military serviceman was killed on the line of contact."

On the night of October 2, the situation on the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh deteriorated as intense armed clashes flared up. The parties involved in the conflict accused each other of violating the ceasefire.

On April 5, Russia bartered an agreement on the cessation of hostilities along the line of contact between Armenian and Azerbaijani troops. Since then both countries have been reporting recurring, yet brief firefights. In the trilateral statement adopted by the presidents of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan on June 20 in St. Petersburg, the parties reiterated their commitment to the normalization of the situation on the line of contact area in Nagorno-Karabakh.
