LPR envoy accuses Kiev of blocking work of Contact Group's economic subgroup

The previous meeting of the subgroup did not take place either.

LUGANSK, October 5. /TASS/. The Ukrainian side is blocking the work of the economic subgroup of the Contact Group on the settlement in the Donbass region, envoy of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) to the Minsk talks, Vladislav Deinego, said on Wednesday.

"Ukraine continues to block the work of the economic group. For that reason, its work has not begun," the Luganskinformtsentr news agency quotes him as saying.

The previous meeting of the subgroup that was to be held on September 21 did not take place either. Envoy of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Denis Pushilin, said at that time that Kiev "disrupted the economic subgroup’s work refusing to maintain dialogue with the Donbass representative, chief of staff of the DPR head, Maxim Leshchenko." He explained that "the reason was a criminal case allegedly opened against him on aiding and abetting terrorism."

Deinego noted that the issues that were to be discussed at the economic subgroup meeting would be addressed at the meeting of the Contact Group. Currently, the working subgroups on humanitarian, political and security issues have begun work in Minsk. The meeting of the group itself has got underway in the Belarusian capital as well.
