Over 20 ceasefire violations by illegal armed groups reported in Syria over last 24 hours

"The number of settlements joining the reconciliation process has reached 665," the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties said

MOSCOW, September 25. /TASS/. A total of 21 ceasefire violations by illegal armed groups were reported during the day in Syria, including nine — in the province of Aleppo, seven — in the province of Damascus, three — in the province of Hama, one — in the province of Latakia, and one — in the province of Daraa, the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties said in its regular daily news bulletin posted on the Russian Defense Ministry’s website on Sunday.

"In the province of Aleppo, shelling was conducted from multiple missile launcher systems, mortars and firearms at the settlement of Mukhaim Handrat, and Aleppo’s districts of Ramusi, 1070, Hai al-Ansari, al-Ramusi, Salah al-Din, Hai al-Khalidiya and an artillery school," the center said.

In the province of Damascus, fire from mortars and firearm was conducted at the settlements of Hawsh-Nasri, Jobar, Hawsh al-Fara, Mathanat al-Hussainiya, neighborhoods of the settlement of Jobera and the Ibn-Sina hospital. Terrorists conducted shelling from multiple missile launcher systems, mortars and artillery systems at the settlements of Etbaa in the province of Daraa and Kermel in the province of Latakia, and the city of Hama and its airport, as follows from the bulletin.

No air strikes were delivered by the Russian air group and the Syrian air force at armed opposition group which have declared cessation of hostilities and informed the Russian or US reconciliation centers about their locations, according to the bulletin.

Reconciliation of the warring parties

"During the day reconciliation agreements were signed with representatives of four settlements in the Syrian province of Latakia. The number of settlements joining the reconciliation process has reached 665," the Russian center said.

Talks on joining the regime of cessation of hostilities were continued with field commanders of armed opposition groups in the settlement of Muaddamiet al-Shih in the province of Damascus and commanders of armed opposition groups in the provinces of Homs, Aleppo and al-Quneitra, the bulletin says.

The number illegal armed groups that declared their commitment to the ceasefire terms remains unchanged — 69, as follows from the bulletin.

Humanitarian assistance

"A total of 3.5 tonnes of food products — sugar, flour, rice, tea, canned meat and fish — were delivered to the settlement of Rasas in the province of al-Suwayda," the center said.

Hot meals and living essentials distribution outlets are still open for civilians leaving Aleppo’s neighborhoods controlled by illegal armed groups.

Russian reconciliation center

The Russian Defense Ministry declared the establishment of the reconciliation center on February 23. It is headquartered at the Hmeymim air base, Latakia province. The center was set up in line with agreements reached by Russia and the United States to facilitate the negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition and to organize humanitarian deliveries.
