DONETSK, September 23. /TASS/. Possible supplies of lethal weapons from the United States to Ukraine will adversely impact the process of peace settlement in Donbass, Denis Pushilin, the chief negotiator for the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), said on Friday.

"Supplies of lethal weapons to Ukraine will adversely impact the peace process. The decision is not yet final as it requires approval of the upper house [the US Senate]. It might come either way," the Donetsk News Agency quoted him as saying.

Meanwhile, deputy chief of the Ukrainian president’s administration Konstantin Yeliseyev said on Friday Ukraine hails Thursday’s Stability and Democracy for Ukraine Act of the US House of Representatives. "As you know, the Congress adopted a resolution yesterday on stability and democracy. We hail it as a result of [Ukrainian President Pyotr] Poroshenko’s talks," he said.

On September 22, the US House of Representatives passed the Stability and Democracy for Ukraine Act which toughens the anti-Russian sanctions and allows a possibility of sending lethal weapons to Ukraine. Until now, Washington has been supplying Kiev only with means of protection, regimentals and military instructors.
