Roma to flee Ukrainian village where girl’s murder triggered revenge attacks

The local residents ransacked six houses that were home to about twelve Roma familities demanding eviction of a murder suspect

ODESSA, August 28. /TASS/. Roma people are expected to pull out of the village of Loshchinovka in south Ukraine's Odessa region on Monday in the wake of revenge actions over the suspicion that a local Roma man raped and killed a little girl, Yuri Shishmash, the deputy of a district council the village reports said on Sunday.

"They will get a green coorridor as of 09:00 hours tomorrow so that they could remove their belongings from the village," Shishmash said. "We ask everyone to stay away from any kind of actions against them."

The revenge actions in Loshchinovka began after the body of a dead female child was found in a half-dilapidated dwelling. It contained the evidence of violent death.

The suspect happened to be a 20-year-old Roma man living in the same village.

The local residents ransacked six houses that were home to about twelve Roma familities. They demanded the Romas' eviction.

At the time of reporting, the forces of law and order were keeping the situation under full all-out control.
