Russian experts will fly to Egypt on Aug 29 to check airport security — source

MOSCOW, August 26. /TASS/. A new delegation of Russian aviation specialists will fly to Egypt on August 29 to test the airports’ security, a source with the aviation authorities of the Russian Federation told TASS.

"The next visit is scheduled for August 29," the source said.

Earlier, Egypt’s Civil Aviation Minister Sherif Fathy said that his ministry had invited a delegation of experts from the Russian Federation to arrive in Cairo to carry out regular checks of the Egyptian airports.

Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said that his ministry will send another group of aviation specialists to Egypt after receiving the official invitation.

Talks on the resumption of air communication with Egypt have been on since the end of 2015. At the moment, the country's airports still do not comply with Russian safety requirements. Air traffic with Egypt was terminated in November 2015 after the terrorist attack on board an airliner of the Kogalymavia company flying from Sharm El Sheikh to St Petersburg.
