Donbass militia source reports shelling of Yasinovataya outskirts

DONETSK, August 17. /TASS/. A source in the law enforcement agencies of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic said on Tuesday Kiev forces had shelled the outskirts of an industrial area near Yasinovataya from artillery weapons of 122mm caliber.

"Late on Tuesday and at midnight the Ukrainian side shelled an industrial area from 122mm weapons. In total, 43 artillery shells were fired from the enemy’s positions near Avdeyevka," the source told the Donetsk news agency.

The Kiev forces also reportedly used mortars with the caliber of 82mm and 120mm, infantry combat vehicles, grenade launchers and small arms. The village of Sakhanka in the republic’s south and Zaytsevo near Gorlovka came under fire.

The DPR operative command said earlier that the Ukrainian forces had shelled towns and areas of the republic near the front line a total of 578 times over the past 24 hours.

Shelling of Lugansk republic militia positions

The LuganskInformCenter reported the militia positions of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic had been shelled four times over the past 24 hours.

The Kiev forces reportedly shelled the area of a monument to Prince Igor twice from the direction of Stanitsa Luganskaya from infantry combat vehicles and mortars of 82mm.

The area of the Kalinovka village came under fire opened from 82mm mortars from the direction of the Luganskoye village. The neighboring Kalinovo village was also targeted from small arms from the direction of Popasnaya, according to the report.

No casualties have been reported, the militia said.
