LPR militia says Kiev forces shell city near Lugansk, destroy building

Over the past 24 hours the Kiev forces violated the ceasefire regime eight times, militia says

LUGANSK, August 9. /TASS/. Kiev forces shelled Stakhanov, east of Lugansk, overnight destroying a non-residential building and damaging two nearby houses, the people’s militias in the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic said on Tuesday.

The shelling was conducted at 4.30 a.m. from the direction of Popasnaya from 120mm mortars.

"Over the past 24 hours the Kiev forces violated the ceasefire regime eight times in the zone controlled by the people’s militias. According to preliminary data, there are no injuries or deaths," the LuganskInformCenter reported.

The previous shelling of Stakhanov occurred overnight to August 2. Three people were wounded.

The participants of the Contact Group on settling the crisis in eastern Ukraine agreed to observe the silence regime starting from midnight on April 30. This is the eighth ceasefire agreement since the autumn of 2014. However, the Ukrainian army has repeatedly violated the truce opening fire from mortars and tanks that were to have been withdrawn under the Minsk peace deal.
