BAKU, August 8. /TASS/. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday there are all the conditions to boost ties with Russia and cited as an example cooperation in the settlement of the Syrian crisis.
Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia, Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Hassan Rouhani earlier on Monday adopted a declaration of cooperation after their trilateral meeting.
"The signing of fundamental agreements between us, as well as simplified visa issuance procedures, measures to encourage investments in our countries, cooperation in the area of customs services, the establishment of a green customs corridor, cooperation in the areas of science and technologies, and closer ties between our regions are good examples of our cooperation and prove that there are corresponding conditions to boost cooperation between our two states," Rouhani said.
The Iranian leader said that contacts between the two countries on the settlement of the Syrian crisis are a good example of regional cooperation between Iran and Russia, which will help them boost contacts in other spheres. According to Rouhani, cooperation between his country and Russia has good prospects for further development. He pledged that his country’s leadership is sparing no effort to develop economic and political relations with Russia.
The declaration of the three leaders envisages cooperation in anti-terrorism efforts, settlement of regional conflicts, cooperation in the Caspian Sea, development of ties in the energy and transport sectors, etc.
The sides agreed to set up working groups on cooperation areas of mutual interest.
Rouhani said his country is ready to host another summit meeting in the Iran-Russia-Azerbaijan format.
"President [of Iran Hassan] Rouhani suggested the next meeting of the three heads of state be held in Iran. We are thankful to him for this initiative and accept this invitation," Ilam Aliyev said.
