DONETSK, July 19. /TASS/. Militia sources have reported that the Ukrainian forces had fired 379 mortar shells and 22 artillery shells on the territory of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) overnight, the DPR security sources told the Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.
"From midnight to 01:15 am, the Ukrainian side fired 122 mm caliber artillery shells on the Staromikhailovka settlement," the sources said. "Fire was opened three times, 13 artillery shells were fired from the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ positions on a residential neighborhood."
According to him, the Ukrainian army units also used tanks and mortars in the shelling attacks. "A total of 379 mortar shells of 82 mm and 120 mm caliber were fired on the DPR near-front zones in the evening and during the night. Also, nine shots were fired from a tank gun," the DPR law enforcement sources said.
In addition to Staromikhailovka, the Zaitsevo and Krutaya Balka villages near Gorlovka, Trudovskiye in the west of Donetsk, the Vasilyevka, Veseloye and Zhabichevo settlements in the Yasinovataya district, the industrial zone area in a suburb of Yasinovataya, Dokuchayevsk and the Sakhanka village in the south of the republic came under the Ukrainian forces’ fire.
The LuganskInformCenter agency reported on Tuesday that Kiev’s security forces had opened fire on the militia positions in the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) five times overnight.
According to the report, "Stanitsa Luganskaya area four times came under fire opened from 82 mm caliber mortars and automatic grenade launchers."
