France to beef up security in wake of Bastille Day terror — minister

The police will be instructed enhance patrols of tourist attractions

PARIS, July 18. /TASS/. French authorities plan to tighten security at tourist attractions, Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said on Monday.

"The police and servicemen (involved into the Sentinel operation) will be instructed to beef up patrols of tourist attractions including beaches," the minister said following a meeting with the council of security and defense concerning the terror rampage in Nice.

On Thursday night, a truck plowed at full speed into a crowd on the Promenade des Anglais as thousands of people were leaving the festive fireworks display celebrating Bastille Day.

A total of 84 people died and more than 200 others were wounded, many of them severely.
