ANKARA, July 16. /TASS/. Turkey's acting Chief of Staff Umit Dundar said 104 coup plotters had been killed during the military coup attempt, Haberturk TV reported on Saturday.
Dundar confirmed information 90 people were killed, including 47 civilians, 41 police and two servicemen. He also confirmed 1,563 coup participants arrested. Besides, he said, some commanders of the Turkish armed forces are still kept hostages.
Umit Dundar was appointed Turkey’s acting Chief of Staff as the incumbent head Hulusi Akar got missing in the coup chaos. Some reports said he was taken hostage. Recent information published by the Turkish media says Hulusi Akar is released and taken now to a safe location.
