Iranian president to visit Azerbaijan in August

The leaders of the two countries have held a telephone conversation

BAKU, July 5. /TASS/. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will visit Azerbaijan in August as follows from a telephone conversation between the Iranian and Azerbaijani leaders held on Tuesday.

During the conversation, Ilham Aliyev "expressed the hope that the Iranian president’s visit to Azerbaijan due to take place next month will give a fresh impetus to further development of bilateral relations," the press service of the Azerbaijani president reports.

"The Azerbaijani and Iranian presidents expressed satisfaction with the successful development of friendly relations between the two countries and voiced confidence that they will expand the bilateral ties in the future," the press service said.

The two presidents also discussed the Azerbaijani-Iranian cooperation in the political, economic, transport and energy sectors and in the Caspian Sea.

The conversation was held on the initiative of the Iranian side. The two presidents exchanged congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide.

Rouhani paid an official visit to Baku in November 2014.
