EgyptAir plane crew and passengers evacuated after emergency landing — air company

An EgyptAir plane heading from Cairo to Beijing has made an emergency landing in Uzbekistan due to a bomb threat

ASTANA, June 8 /TASS/. The passengers and crew of an Egypt Air aircraft were evacuated after an emergency landing at the Urgench airport in Uzbekistan, the Uzbek state airline Uzbekiston Havo Yo’llari (Uzbekistan Airways), which runs the airport, reported on its website.

"The airport was informed that a bomb could be planted onboard of an A330-220 airliner of the EgyptAir company in the morning on June 8. The plane that took off from Cairo and was heading for Beijng had 17 crew and 118 passengers onboard. The administration of the Uzbek airport received a request for emergency landing," the report said.

"The plane is in a safe zone at the moment. The crew and the passengers have been evacuated. Appropriate services are checking the aircraft," the Uzbekistan Airways said.
