GROZNY, May 25. /TASS/. The number of refugees and displaced persons in the world reached a record high of 60 million people in 2015, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev told journalists on Wednesday after an international meeting of high security officials.
"The number of refugees and internally displaced persons in the world in 2015 reached record since levels since World War II - amounting to more than 60 million people", Patrushev said, adding that support should be provided to such people.
Patrushev also said that a number of ethnic criminal groups are trying to create stable channels of illegal migration and organize the shadow market of legalization and employment of foreigners, as well as organize drug trafficking and smuggling routes.
