MOSCOW, May 19. /TASS/. An American wanted by US security services for hacker attacks has been detained in Moscow, Russian Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk told TASS on Thursday.
"Criminal police carried out a set of special search operations jointly with the Russian Interior Ministry’s Moscow branch of Interpol’s National Central Bureau and detained a man wanted by the security services of the United States of America for committing hi-tech crimes," the spokeswoman said.
The 32-year-old US citizen is suspected of committing a number of hacker attacks jointly with his accomplices in his home country, which subsequently led to manipulations worth millions of US dollars with dollar-denominated shares, she said.
"The man is accused of stealing the personal data of millions of clients of the largest US companies and securities fraud. He has been detained at present. His detention was reported to the initiator of the search," the Russian Interior Ministry spokeswoman said.
