SOCHI, May 19. /TASS/. The 4th meeting of the strategic dialogue Russia-Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf will be held in Moscow on May 26, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a news briefing on Thursday.

"On May 26 Moscow will host the fourth meeting of the strategic dialogue Russia CCASG," Zakharova said. "Taking part in it will be Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his counterparts representing the six Gulf Cooperation Council member-states - Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Amman."

This is going to be the first event of the kind to be held in Russia, Zakharova said.

"The previous meetings in this format were held in Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and Kuwait City," she recalled.

"Russia systematically works for building up diversified ties with the Arab states of the Persian Gulf on the bilateral and multilateral levels," Zakharova said. "We proceed from the assumption that tight cooperation with the Arabian monarchies meets Russia’s long-term interests and gives us a firmer foothold in the Persian Gulf and in the entire space of the Middle East and North Africa.
