LPR reports death of militia fighter in Ukrainian forces shelling

The LPR Defense Ministry says one militia fighter was killed and another wounded in a shelling attack launched by the Ukrainian forces

MOSCOW, May 17. /TASS/. One militia fighter of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) has been killed and another wounded in a shelling attack launched by the Ukrainian forces, the LPR Defense Ministry told the LuganskInformCenter agency on Tuesday.

"The shelling attack, which resulted in casualties in the ranks of the people’s militia, was launched on May 16 form the Stary Aidar village area on the Rayevka village area. The AGS-17 automatic mounted grenade launchers and small arms were used in the attack," the agency reported.

In addition, the Ukrainian forces twice opened fire over the past 24 hours on the Logvinovo settlement area and the people's militia positions in the area of ··the Kalinovka settlement.

On April 29, the Contact Group for a settlement in eastern Ukraine agreed on the occasion of Easter to establish full ceasefire in Donbass starting from the midnight of April 30. It is an eighth ceasefire agreement since the autumn of 2014. However, the militias and Kiev’s forces continue to accuse each other of violating the ceasefire regime.
