Militia source reports shelling in Donbass

MOSCOW, May 4. /TASS/. A law enforcement source in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) told the local Donetsk News Agency that Ukraine’s army on Wednesday shelled the village of Kominternovo in southern Donbass.

"At 15:40 the Ukrainian side opened fire from 82-millimeter-caliber mortars on the village of Kominternovo. Along with mortars, fire was also delivered from infantry combat vehicles," the source said.

He said Ukraine’s Armed Forces were delivering fire from their positions in the village of Gnutovo. Overall, they fired some 10 mortar shells. Information on those injured and destruction is being specified.

Participants of the Contact Group on settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine in late April agreed on a comprehensive ceasefire in Donbass since midnight April 30.

Since the fall of 2014, when the parties to the conflict first sat down to the negotiating table in the Belarusian capital Minsk, there have been at least seven of them. The previous time the sides agreed to stop fire in January 2016.
