Russia proposes UN Security Council to call for reduction of military activity around DPRK

UN has been considering a statement on the unsuccessful launches of North Korean missiles since April 28

UNITED NATIONS, May 2. /TASS/. Russia has proposed to include an appeal to different countries to reduce military activity around the Korean Peninsula in response to unsuccessful missile launches by North Korea, Russian ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin told reporters on Monday.

"We believe it’s important to call a spade a spade and we think it’s extremely important to ask the parties concerned to reduced military activity in the region," he said, adding that the U.S. mission was considering the proposal at the moment against the backdrop of large-scale U.S.-South Korean war games in the region of the Korean Peninsula.
