Ceasefire in Syria’s Eastern Ghouta district extended for another 48 hours

According to head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria Sergei Kuralenko, "talks are in progress on the ceasefire in Aleppo province."

HMEIMIM /Syria/, May 2. /TASS/. The ceasefire the Syrian district of Eastern Ghouta has been extended for extra 48 hours, head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria Sergei Kuralenko said on Monday.

"The ceasefire in Eastern Ghouta district (Damascus suburb) has been extended for another 48 hours - until midnight on May 3 - by the Russian and U.S. sides by agreement with the leadership of the Syrian Arab Republic and the moderate opposition," Kuralenko said.

According to him, "talks are in progress on the ceasefire in Aleppo province."

A 72-hour truce in Latakia and a 24-hour truce in Eastern Ghouta was announced on April 30. On May 1, the ceasefire in Eastern Ghouta was extended for 24 hours.
