Ceasefire in Damascus suburb extended for one more day — Russia’s defense ministry

Negotiations are also underway now on establishing ceasefire in the Aleppo province

MOSCOW, May 1. /TASS/. The silence regime in Eastern Ghouta, a suburb of Syria's Damascus, has been extended for one more day until the end of Sunday, head of the Russian reconciliation center in Syria Sergei Kuralenko said.

"The silence regime introduced from April 30, 2016 for 72 hours in the northern districts of the Latakia province and for 24 hours in the suburb of Damascus - Eastern Ghouta - is observed. The positive results reached have allowed us in coordination with Syria’s authorities and American partners to extend the silence regime in Eastern Ghouta for one more day until midnight on May 1," Kuralenko said.

Negotiations are also underway now on establishing ceasefire in the Aleppo province.
