HAVANA, April 19. /TASS/. Cuban leader Raul Castro was reelected on Tuesday as the first secretary of the country’s Communist Party.

Castro, 84, replaced his brother and Cuban revolution leader Fidel as the party’s head at the previous party congress held five years ago.

Fidel Castro, 89, also attended Tuesday’s congress among other 1,000 delegates who gathered to approve the plan of Cuba’s development until 2030, to discuss the implementation of reforms launched in 2011 and to elected the party’s top officials.

Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, 85, was re-elected as second secretary.
