Russia, Syria have understanding about new military technical cooperation contracts

DAMASCUS, April 17. /TASS/. Military technical cooperation remains a key area of cooperation with Syria, with understanding reached on new contracts in this sphere with various formats of payment and financing, Russian Ambassador to Syria Alexander Kinshchak told TASS on Sunday.

"Today, it is a key area of our cooperation," he said. "This cooperation is carried out and various formats: there are commercial contracts, including agreements which were signed previously and which are now at the stage of implementation; there are concrete plans and understanding about new contracts with various formats of payments and financing."

The Russian diplomat said Russia is trying to demonstrate maximum flexibility in the sphere of military technical cooperation with Syria. "If we are allies in this war, and we are allies, we are interested to see to it that the Syria army fights efficiently," he noted. "Naturally, we must help them in terms of supplying modern arms and munitions."
