MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. As many as 26 civilians were killed and 38 others were wounded in shelling of Syria’s Aleppo and its neighborhoods by militants in the past two weeks, the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria said in its regular information bulletin posted on the Russian Defense Ministry’s website on Tuesday.
"Growing tension is reported in the city of Aleppo and its neighborhoods. Over the past two weeks, twenty-six civilians were killed and thirty-eight more received wounds of various degrees of gravity in this area as a result of shelling by militants," the center said.
After a strike from Hellfire missile launcher from the area of Aleppo’s Al-Ashrafiya district, Jabhat al-Nusra militants made another attempt at an offensive on the positions of Kurdish self-defense units in the Sheikh Maksoud district, the document notes. "As a result, three civilians were killed and six others were wounded."
The reconciliation center also said that two tons of humanitarian cargoes have been delivered to a clinic of Aleppo’s medical university.
"Two tons of humanitarian cargoes have been handed over to the medical university’s clinic in the city of Aleppo which provides treatment to civilians hurt in terrorist shellings. Another humanitarian convoy is being formed for residents of the province of Hama," the center said.
Apart from that, according to the bulletin, officers of the Russian reconciliation center had a meeting with officials from Syria’s ministry of national reconciliation. The meeting focused on issues related to deliveries of relief aid to Palmyra’s residents.
"Officers of the Russian center jointly with the administration of the province of Hama delivered humanitarian aid to people staying at a center for internally displaced persons near the settlement of Dahriya. Humanitarian cargoes for Syrians who lost their homes included food products - bread, canned foods, rice and sugar," the bulletin says.
According to the statement, the number of populated localities in Syria that have joined the reconciliation process has reached 58.
"Over the past 24 hours, a reconciliation agreement has been signed with representatives of one populated locality in Damascus province. The number of populated localities that have joined the reconciliation process has reached 58. The number of illegal armed groups that declared their commitment to the terms of the cessation of hostilities has grown to 47," the bulletin said.
Agreements on the cessation of hostilities have been reached with the field commanders of two paramilitary units with the aggregate number of up to 250 people operating in Damascus province.
The regime of the cessation of hostilities has been observed in most provinces of Syria. However, five violations of the ceasefire regime have been recorded over the past 24 hours: in the provinces of Latakia (2 violations), Deraa, Homs and Damascus (one in each), runs the statement.
"In the province of Latakia unidentified armed groups continued mortar shelling of the Syrian armed force units near the Sandran and Mazraat Omaro settlements", the document says.
In the province of Deraa militants of the Syrian Free Army groups opened fire from heavy machine guns on the positions of the Syrian government troops near the Al Mahatta settlement.
In addition, a militants’ shelling attack destroyed a car owned by a resident of the Tahoun Dengouzie settlement in the Dar-al-Kebira area on the Homs-Hama motor road (Homs province), according to the Defense Ministry.
A mortar attack was launched on the village of Marj Sultan in the Damascus province from the Hazrma settlement controlled by units of the Jaysh al-Islam Islamist group. As a result, a civilian was injured.
"The Russian Aerospace Forces and Syria’s Air Force have not delivered airstrikes on the opposition armed groups that announced the cessation of hostilities and reported to the Russian or American reconciliation centers their location," the release says.
