Russian military inspect base in Turkey

A group of Russian military inspectors is visiting Turkey with an aim to check the observation of the 2011 OSCE Vienna Document on the confidence and security-building measures

ANKARA, March 29 /TASS/. A Russian military delegation has visited a base of the Amphibious Marine Infantry Brigade Command near Izmir, Turkey, in an atmosphere of top security and top secrecy, the Ihlas News Agency reported.

A group of Russian military inspectors is visiting Turkey with an aim to check the observation of the 2011 OSCE Vienna Document on the confidence and security-building measures. They arrived at the Foca naval base in Turkey by helicopter accompanied by Turkish military.

According to the Turkish General Staff, the employees of three Turkish military departments in charge of reconnaissance and arms control, are constantly accompanying the Russian inspectors.

"On March 30, the group of Russian inspectors will leave our country via Istanbul," a source at the Turkish General Staff said.

A Ukrainian armed forces delegation arrived in Turkey on a verification visit concurrently with the Russian inspectors as part of implementation of the Vienna Document 2011. Three Ukrainian inspectors are visiting a Turkish Air Force base in Konya province.
