Unidentified men bombard Russian border officers with firecrackers from Ukraine territory

Offenders in black facial masks tried to make a hole in the engineering structure to use it later for smuggling goods, the spokesman for the local department of Russian Federal Security Service says

ROSTOV-ON-DON, March 29. /TASS/. Unidentified men from the Ukrainian territory made an attempt to break down a fence serving as a division line between Russia and Ukraine in Russia’s southern Rostov region and bombarded Russian border officers with firecrackers, a spokesman for the Rostov region department of the Russian Federal Security Service told TASS on Tuesday.

"Offenders in black facial masks tried to make a hole in the engineering structure to use it later for smuggling goods. Using a hooked cable they tried to dismantle a fence section and drag it into the Ukrainian territory. When Russian border officers took measures to localize this illegal activity, the offenders tried to hamper them using firecrackers," the spokesman said.

He did not specify however when the incident took place.

The Russian border officers cut the cable and the offenders fled into Ukraine, the spokesman said.
